The Chancellor’s Distinguished Service Award recognizes university faculty, staff, and organizations for outstanding service, outside of teaching or research, in a UC Berkeley school, college, or department, academic or nonacademic. The Chancellor works closely with a confidential committee to select each recipient. The award is given at a public function, and the recipients must be present to accept it.
